Trump Backs Rivals of GOP Members Who Voted for Paxton Impeachment

Former President Donald Trump has endorsed four Republican candidates seeking to unseat Texas GOP lawmakers who voted for the impeachment of the state’s Attorney General Ken Paxton last year.

President Trump said on Truth Social on Feb. 21 that candidates Liz Case, Mike Olcott, Helen Kerwin, and Alan Schoolcraft will have his “complete and total endorsement” in the Texas GOP primary scheduled for March 5.

He believes that the four candidates will “champion school choice,” lower taxes, defend the U.S. Second Amendment, advocate for border security, and “fight back against the Woke Mob destroying our country.”

President Trump, the frontrunner to become the GOP’s 2024 presidential nominee, labeled those who voted to impeach Mr. Paxton as ‘RINOs,’ an acronym for ‘Republican In Name Only.

Ms. Case is running against Rep. Stan Lambert in Texas House District 71. Mr. Olcott, who is challenging Rep. Glenn Rogers in Texas House District 60, said that he was “floored to have the support of Trump.”
