Justice Department Creating New Organization To Investigate Alleged “Domestic Terrorism”

The Justice Department is creating a new politicized unit to investigate alleged “domestic terrorism,” and from initial descriptions of the organization it’ll be highly focused on the supposed threat posed by right-wing extremists.

“We face an elevated threat from domestic violent extremists – that is, individuals in the United States who seek to commit violent criminal acts in furtherance of domestic social or political goals,” Matthew Olsen, the assistant attorney general of the DOJ’s National Security Division, said in a Senate committee hearing Tuesday.

“We have seen a growing threat from those who are motivated by racial animus, as well as those who ascribe to extremist anti-government and anti-authority ideologies,” said Olson of the organization’s premise.

During the same hearing, assistant director for the FBI’s national security division went on to identify a supposed serious threat from neo-nazi types to the public.
